But first, let me tell you a story about how I came to learn the super-secret tips and strategies I’m about to share with you. It was a scorching hot August in 2007. There I stood, fingers covered in paint and grease, the smell of rubber tires and car wax in the air, when I hear a beautiful, subdued roar approaching…a stunning black Lamborghini Murcielago!

I heard John yell to my manager half-jokingly “Do I gotta pay extra to get the hard worker over there on my car?” He replied, “Sir, he is actually the one responsible for how GREAT your car looks, take a peak, it’s right around the corner!” Thirty seconds later, John comes back around the corner and walks right up to me. “That’s the best paint treatment and detail I have ever seen. What’s your secret?” to which I replied, “Honestly Mr., I just pretend every car I work on is my own.” John stared at me without saying anything for what felt like 10 minutes, but in all likelihood was only a few seconds, then smiled and chuckled.
I’ll never forget that specific moment when John took out a business card, scratched a few words on it, and stuffed it into my shirt pocket before getting into his Lambo and triumphantly following his model-esque girlfriend, at the helm of his Bentley, out of the shop’s parking lot. As I saw it, he was simply crushing at life. For a moment, I almost forget about the business card. He had written “Pick 3 cars you’d like to stop pretending you own, and call me on Sunday”.
Was it too early to call him at 6AM on Sunday, I wondered to myself as I laid awake at the crack of dawn. At the time, I’d been set on a 2008 Maserati GranTurismo, a 2007 Bentley Continental GT, and 2006 Range Rover Sport, and by set on, I mean drooling for. I had so much anticipation for what I was going to learn.
